Our Story
Family In Distress: Restoring Hope, Rebuilding Futures
Founded in 2011, Family In Distress, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to turning hardship into hope. In a time when communities are facing rising homelessness, economic inequality, and the challenges of reentry, we have walked alongside more than 9,200 men, women, and children, providing education, resources, and support that open doors to lasting change.
We know real transformation happens when communities work together. That’s why we partner with governmental agencies, faith-based organizations, and local leaders to expand access to programs and services that strengthen individuals and stabilize families.
At FID, we believe everyone deserves a second chance. Through training, education, and entrepreneurial development, we empower people not only to reenter society but to thrive—breaking the cycles of poverty and incarceration while creating safer, stronger, and more resilient communities for us all.
