Volunteer Opportunities

Language Translator

We are looking for dedicated volunteers who are willing and able to serve individuals with language barriers.

Academic Tutors

Students in our service area are in need of tutoring! We have volunteer opportunities available for passionate individuals with demonstrated interest for community service and experience working with children.

We need for our volunteers to have access to transportation and proficiency in one or more of the following subjects: Math, English (Reading Comprehension, Grammar and Literature), Writing, Sciences and History.

Tutors who possess strengths in a combination of these subject areas will have a greater chance of placement with the right student in need.

NOTE:

  • Each Tutor Candidate must undergo screening and training
  • Must be available through the end of this school year (June 1 and possibly summer)
  • This is an entry-level volunteer opportunity. Depending on Tutor Candidate ability, success in the program and availability, more opportunities may become available in the future.

In-Office Volunteers

As an in-office volunteer you will be providing support in to the individual business units. You will work with staff to support and develop housing and employability opportunities for those within the community that we serve. Availability of positions depends on current volunteer levels, requirements at FID and your skill sets.

Additional duties of the In-office volunteer would include: assessing client experience, skills and limitations; identifying suitable job opportunities for clients; assist clients in completing employment applications, set up interviews with potential employers, accompany clients to interviews or arrange transportation; and follow up with employers regarding job placement status.

Event Volunteers

We need ambassadors for our community to carry a powerful message about FID and its work back into the community. Event volunteers enable the organization to strengthen existing programs, raise funds and resources and increase public awareness of FID.

  • Raising funds at special events
  • Raising awareness of FID and our role in social causes at event functions
  • Being the ambassadors of FID in the community

Speakers Bureau Volunteers

FID needs passionate and inspiring speakers to present in an effort to provide hope, strength and faith to the less fortunate. By understanding that through personal storytelling, our speakers help people understand the crucial role that FID plays in helping the community "one person at a time". Participation is voluntary. We offer training to all speakers and welcome anyone who has been directly or indirectly affected by life situations.
