Motivational Conference—Bullying, The Battle for Survival April 23, 2016 9am to 4pm
Bullying knows no boundaries. The constitution of America says that all men are created equal. It is important to respect and accept that every person is different. So, whether short, tall, overweight, underweight, gay, straight, trans-gender, have special needs … we’re all created for purpose. No one should be bullied!!
Health Educational Seminar—Raising Awareness June 4, 2016 9am to 4pm
Breast cancer occurs mainly in women, but men can get it, too. In Black females breast cancer is known to be the 3rd most deadly of illness, the American Cancer Society estimates for breast cancer in men in the United States for 2015 are: about 2,350 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed; about 440 men will die from breast cancer. Spinal cord injuries are common and can affect families. When this occurs life appears to cease when an individual becomes paralyzed. How a society reacts to these deadly issues is important. Learn not to see the condition but the person.
A Tribute Concert to Benefit the Homeless—A party for the rest of us July 9, 2016 6pm to 10pm
In America, more than 2.5 million children and their parents experience homelessness. This event is to build resources to continue helping the homeless and to bring awareness of the National Health Care for the Homeless Council definition a homeless individual which is defined in section 330(h) (5) (A) as “An individual who lacks housing (without regard to whether the individual is a member of a family), including an individual whose primary residence during the night is a supervised public or private facility (e.g., shelters) that provides temporary living ... This concert will be packed with great music, food and drink. Food trucks and indoors concessions, and is geared to benefit FID’s work with the homeless and at-risk families.
Financial Smart Workshop—“Show Me My Money: A Lesson on Saving and Spending” (a.k.a. Building the way Home) August 6, 2016 8am to 4pm
This event is geared towards empowering participants to take charge of their financial wellbeing and to follow the proper steps towards saving for a better future. This workshop helps participants become aware of the "why behind the spending," and how to identify spending habits, set financial goals and develop spending plans that make sense.
Annual Homeless Dinner and a Movie December 18, 2016 3pm to 7pm
A fun time for the homeless to hang out, enjoy life, and be served a catered meal, movie, and gifts.
