About Family In Distress

The founder of Family in Distress (FID) envisioned a place where people could seek comfort and caring beyond the traditional boundaries of shame or distress. The resources offered by FID address life's many challenges. We provide support to cancer survivors and their families, encourage and care for the homeless, and actively support individuals and families during times they cannot otherwise provide for themselves.

Family In Distress is a corporation designed exclusively for religious, charitable, and educational or scientific purposes within the meaning of a section 501 c (3) of the IRS code. Our goal is to develop spiritual, self-reliance and self-sufficiency for those in need. Our mission includes presenting programs, projects, services, seminars, lectures, counseling, and therapeutic sessions for the intergenerational sectors of South Florida, especially to inner city areas. We present services, programs and projects for Veterans, Seniors, Single Parents (male and/or female) those who suffer from cancer and other potentially terminal ailments and high risk youth. We work to develop temporary housing and liaison with assisted living facilities and transitional housing for people living with HIV/AIDS. We offer feeding and clothing programs, affordable housing for low to moderate income persons, transitional housing for battered and abused women and children, and temporary sheltering of the homeless. We promote, then provide education and information to raise the socioeconomic development of inner city communities. We interact with governmental, faith-based and other community-based organizations to enhance programs, projects and services to those in need.

Family In Distress partners with several major organizations dedicated to community and social responsibility. Our pledge is to work critically within the community and provide an opportunity to connect and share with others in circumstances of need. Family In Distress will work within the community to help families of all ages, races, faiths, backgrounds, abilities and income levels to deliver quick response, and address social needs.

Additionally, to keep our commitment to aid those in need, we partner with individuals who are skilled in conflict analysis and human behavior. Our services promise to strengthen individual personal values, self esteem and character. Our unique methods will assist families in building stronger unity in the home as well as within the community. Our programs are meaningful because we work to engage and build the spiritual, mental and physical well-being of the individual.
